A Step Ahead

All along my thoughts were smiling as they lay on a bed of thorns,
The nights just got colder and so did the pleasant morns,
Those laminated memories, now I know why they tore,
Dissapointed in that love I had, the love by which I swore.

Wrapping me up in your miracle,
So timely that you sent,
Knew instantly what lay numb in my heart,
And all that it had meant.

It came as a breath of freshness, warm as a ray of sunlight,
And the reds, the blues, the greens, the yellows, just enveloped the white.
Just one moment had taught me all that I should see,
And so subtly that feeling, set my senses free.

I learnt a look could tell me, all that I had missed,
Reliving what sleeping beauty must have felt, after she had been kissed.
I thought love lay right next to me, did not sleep a wink, kept waking,
Now sleeping soundly in my bed, I see a new dawn breaking.

And those distant memories, just gathered dust it seemed,
For once my aching heart and hands, couldnt be bothered to clean.
My cheeks had marks of tears of a love that had caused a lot of pain.
Your concentrated laughter just diluted those stains.

That falling pack of aces, those distant dreams just shatter,
Cant believe I now walk over them and they just dont seem to matter.
Unlocking a set of new hopes as I chanced upon the key,
Realised that perfect man just wasnt you, the lonely girl I could no longer be.
No proofs and no excuses, now know why it couldnt last.
The best way to deal with the present, is to forget the past.

Just picking out from that orchard of experience,
Bitter berries that I ate,
So that I dont lose lessons they taught me,
And remember that lasting taste.

Feel lighter being just myself,
no conditions and no rules without cause,
Triumphant as I now stand,
A step ahead of where I was.
